Laughter is surely the best medicine!! The kids are busting with laughter when someone.... (Truman) did something hilarious. Well they thought it was hilarious ;-*. To me, it was funny to see and hear them laughing so hard! I love that sound!!

Our first month of preschool was very fun!! Lots do learn, lots to play, and lots to create!!

Our last field trip of the year is at The Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point. We got to see lots of farm animals and baby ones too. And... don't forget the pony ride.

We went outside and made Tye Die preschool shirts. It was messy, it was fun, it was worth it!! Look at how darn cute they turned out.

During our butterfly metamorphosis lesson,

we made a pretty butterfly craft.

Be very careful the wings are fragile, just like a real butterfly.

This is what our caterpillars and their chrysalis looked like. It is a Painted Lady Caterpillar.

It will turn into a Painted Lady butterfly.

In April we received our caterpillars in the mail.

4 tiny little caterpillars.

They munched and munched and munched.

Until they grew into adult caterpillars in just a few days.

This is a picture of the empty cocoons and you can see 2 of the new butterflies.

Before they were butterflies. They were these huge caterpillars!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

We have been talking about SPRING things. Spring animals and animals that emerge from hibernation after a long winter. Also, how the ground starts to warm up so that the insects and spiders and the reptiles start to come out into the sun. We went outside to see the flowers start to peek up through the dirt. We found tulips, daffodils and crocus'. Then I taught the students how fragile and gentle flowers are and the purpose they give our world.

After that, I instructed them how to paint some unique flowers themselves for a pretty flower scene with a blue sky and some wispy clouds.

So unique and beautiful!

We are thankful for November!

November came and went.

We were able to go outside and collect leaves from the trees. We used those leaves to talk about how the summer changes to fall and how the leaves change color with the season. Those leaves became our turkeys tails. We had a lesson about the first Thanksgiving and had a Thanksgiving Feast ourselves right in class.

What a fun month.

October is a really fun month.

We will take a trip to the pumpkin patch and we get to make all sorts of fall & Hallowen crafts.

We had so much fun in May. As the school year came to a close we had lots of fun on several field trips. First we took a nice walk and fed the duck s at the pond and stopped by the park to play and have a snack.

This is one of the butterflies that we raised in May. We watched five caterpilars grow from tiny babies to big fat adults. Then we saw them transform themselves into chrysalids. They hung upside down for about 7 days until beautiful butterflys emerged after their metamorphasis.

We visited the Lehi Firestation and that was so cool! The firemen let us try on their hats and fire coats. We got to sit on the shiny new truck and take a tour of the station. The firemen gave us gifts to take home; our own fire hat, a sticker and a sucker.

We had the chance to let our butterflies go in the front yard. Some of them stuck around for a while and hung out on our hands. They were so pretty and fun to watch fly away.

March Activities

March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb! We love to color with Mrs. Lynette.

Later this month we will be putting together a butterfly garden house. We will be watching little caterpillars make their transformation into neat cocoons and then into beautiful butterflies. Let's hope the snow goes away so that we can release our butterfly friends in May. This month we will be talking a lot about springtime and the life cycles of several animals.

Next month we will be visiting the fire station and

learning about the solar system.
